ETSU's Biosca Named Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s David Biosca has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played March 6-12. Biosca was 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles action as the Bucs went 2-1 last week. After falling to Miami (5-2), ETSU rebounded to pick up wins over Florida Atlantic (4-2) and Florida Gulf Coast (4-0).

Playing at No. 1 singles, Biosca downed Miami’s Piotr Limacki, who was ranked No. 70 in singles play, 7-6, 6-4. Biosca then held off FAU’s Andrei Koughoucheff, 6-3, 6-3. Biosca has now climbed to No. 69 in the latest singles rankings.

Paired with Juan Lugo at No. 1 doubles for the first time this season, Biosca picked up a win over FAU’s Felipe Frias and Arthur Stefani (6-3) before slipping past Florida Gulf Coast’s Andres Alfonso and Ezequiel Cerrini (7-6).

ETSU (4-6) returns to action Saturday (March 18) when the Bucs visit Wofford (9-5).

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Furman’s Adam Steryous, Mercer’s Sam Philp, and Wofford’s Kyle Barr.
