Furman’s Buchalski Named Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman senior Allie Buchalski has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Feb. 1-7, the league office announced Wednesday.

Buchalski set the nation’s leading time and broke her own Paladin record in the women’s 3,000m run at the Camel City Invitational on Friday. The senior was the top collegiate finisher and finished second overall, posting a time of 9:06.88 to slash nearly seven a seconds of her previous best of 9:13.39, which she set last month.

The General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week recognizes student-athletes that hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 and whose sport is currently in-season. Nominees must have also completed at least one full academic year at their respective institutions.
