SPARTANBURG, S.C. – SIUE 174-pounder Jake Residori has been named the Southern Conference wrestler of the week for all competition from Feb. 15-21. The selection is made by the league office and is the final one of the 2016-17 season.

Residori won his lone bout of the week, downing Dylan Wisman of No. 10 Missouri, 5-2. Wisman entered the match ranked No. 20 nationally by FloWrestling.

With the win, Residori, a senior from Shorewood, Illinois, wrapped up his regular season with a 16-11 overall mark and a 10-6 dual record.

The weekly award is the third of Residori’s career. He also claimed the honor on Dec. 11, 2013, and Jan. 28, 2015.

SIUE and the seven other league wrestling programs return to action at the Southern Conference Wrestling Championship at The Citadel’s McAlister Field House in Charleston, South Carolina, on March 4.

Also nominated: Matt Zovistoski (Appalachian State), Ville Heino (Campbell) and Aaron Walker (The Citadel).
