SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Robert Herrera has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played Feb. 13-19. Herrera went 4-0 in all matches last week and has now won four of his five singles matches this spring.

In a 4-3 win over UAB, Herrera posted a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Stefan Gonzalez at No. 3 singles. The junior teamed with Diego Nunez at No. 1 doubles and came away with a 6-1 win over Gonzalez and Tim Dollman.

The Bucs dropped a close 4-3 contest to Georgia State on Sunday (Feb. 19). Herrera cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Jannis Koeke at No 3 singles. Herrera and Nunez also secured a 6-2 win at the top doubles position over Sebastian Acuna and Andrei Andrukhou. Herrera and Nunez moved up to No. 59 in the latest doubles rankings.

The Bucs (2-4) return to the courts March 3 when they host North Florida.

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Furman’s Cameron Green, Mercer’s Nicholas Guillon, Samford’s Justin Ghavami and Chattanooga’s Niklas Gerdes.
