SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Ria’n Holland has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all games played Feb. 14-20. Holland scored a game-high 32 points in Mercer’s lone game last week, an 89-78 victory at The Citadel.

Holland connected on 9-of-15 shots (.600) from the field, hit a personal-best nine free throws (9-of-10) and tied his season high with eight rebounds against the Bulldogs. The junior went 5-of-7 from 3-point range and added a blocked shot in 36 minutes.

He leads Mercer and ranks third in the Southern Conference in scoring (18.1 ppg) and is fourth in made 3-pointers per contest (2.7 3fg).

Mercer (13-15, 7-8 SoCon) returns to action Wednesday (Feb. 22) when the Bears host UNCG (20-8, 11-4 SoCon).

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included The Citadel’s Preston Parks, ETSU’s Tevin Glass, UNCG’s Diante Baldwin, Samford’s Alex Thompson and Wofford’s Cameron Jackson.
