SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman senior Adam Steryous has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played through Feb. 12. Steryous is 5-1 in singles competition and has posted an identical 5-1 mark in doubles play to open the year.

The Taylors, S.C., native has been victorious in his last five decisions after dropping his season opener against Harvard’s Sebastian Beltrame (3-6, 3-6). Steryous has won four of his five singles matches in straight sets, while his lone three-set victory was a 5-7, 6-2, 7-5 win over Elon’s Felipe Sarrasague. A 2016 first-team all-conference selection, Steryous ranks second in the conference with five victories at the No. 1 position.

Steryous and teammate Jake Munns are 5-1 at No. 1 doubles and are on a five-match winning streak. Steryous and Munns picked up their first win of the season against San Francisco’s Johan Jonhagen and Mert Zincirli (6-4) and cruised to a 6-2 victory over Elon’s Sarrasague and Mario Paccini.

The Paladins return to action Friday when they visit Presbyterian.
