The Citadel's Diggs Finishes First in 60-Meter Hurdles

Winston Salem, N.C. – The Citadel's track and field teams competed in the High Point Team Challenge in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on Thursday.
 
Senior Malik Diggs finished first overall in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.35 seconds. Freshman Raleigh Webb set a personal record in the 60-meter dash and finished fourth with a time of 7.16 and senior Dondray Copeland finished ninth in 7.20.
 
The men’s squad also took fourth place in the 4x400 relay race with a time of 3:28.94.
 
For the women's team, senior Caillian Colquitt set a personal record and placed seventh in the 3,000 with a time of 10:38.65 to earn the No. 2 spot in program history. Freshman Jessy Page once against set The Citadel’s freshman record in the weight throw with a toss of 49-9.75 to earn sixth place in the event.  
 
The women’s 4x400 relay team ran a time of 4:04.45 to take fourth place overall.
 
The Bulldogs will compete in the Clemson Invitational next Friday in Clemson, South Carolina. Results from the meet will be available on CitadelSports.com.

 

Delaney Wins 800 Meters as UNCG Competes in JDL College Challenge

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – UNCG is becoming exceptionally familiar with the JDL Fast Track, having competed at the facility for the third time in 2017 Thursday at the JDL College Challenge.

The highlight of the meet came from Taylor Delaney, who broke the tape in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.06. Other top results from the women’s size were Kaitlyn Stone snagging eighth in the mile, timing in at 5:20.97, and Sarah DeSantis taking 10th in the 3,000 meters after finishing in 11:00.63.

On the men’s side, Luke Sumerford finished runner-up in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:48.94), while Alex Roy and Brandon King weren’t far behind, taking fourth (8:54.12) and eighth (8:59.83), respectively.

Dakarai Shipp staked claim to sixth in the mile, finishing up in 4:27.88, and Jeffery Beane garnered eighth in the 60 meter hurdles, crossing the line in 8.61 to wrap up the top-10 finishers for the Blue and Gold.
