SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel's Stephan Kulick, a sophomore, has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Jan. 25-31, the league office announced Wednesday.
Kulick ran the third leg of the 4X400m relay to assist the Bulldogs in grabbing first place with a time of 3:28.97 on Saturday at the VMI-hosted dual track meet. The Davidson, Md., native also placed first overall in the 800m race with a time of 1:58.59, setting a facility record at VMI’s new Corps Training Facility. Kulick currently ranks sixth in the 800m among SoCon competitors after running a converted time of 1:56.74 at the Wake Forest Invitational on Jan. 21.
The General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week recognizes student-athletes that hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 and whose sport is currently in-season. Nominees must have also completed at least one full academic year at their respective institutions.
