SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford junior Fletcher Magee was named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all contests from Nov. 14-20 after averaging 28.7 points per game for the week. The award is selected by the league office.
Magee scored 30 points twice in the week, helping the Terriers to a 2-1 mark. In a 79-65 loss at California on Thursday, the Orlando, Florida, native scored nearly half of Wofford’s points on the day, hitting seven 3-pointers as part of a 10-for-16 (.625) shooting day en route to 32 points.
Two days later, Magee scored 23 points in just 23 minutes as the Terriers cruised to a 98-65 home win over Bob Jones. He was 8-for-13 from the floor (.615) and 6-for-9 (.667) from long range. He closed his week with a 31-point effort in an 86-83 win over North Florida on Sunday. He went 11-for-19 from the floor (579) and hit another six 3-pointers to raise his season total to an NCAA Division I-best 24.
For the week, Magee was 29-for-48 (.604) from the floor and 19-for-32 (.594) from 3-point range. He was a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line and averaged 2.0 assists and 1.7 rebounds per game. He was the leading scorer in all three games.
