JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – ETSU women’s soccer freshman midfielder Georgia Allen was selected to the England U19 squad to participate in two contests versus Sweden in preparations for England’s Euro qualifying campaign this spring.

“We are extremely proud of Georgia, as we are of all of our players who have represented their respective countries, past and present,” said head coach Adam Sayers. “Playing and training at that level is invaluable experience for any player, and will directly benefit our team here at ETSU. We wish Georgia and England all the very best.”

Allen, who was named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman team in 2016, is one of three collegiate soccer players to make the U19 squad. The others included Clemson University goalkeeper Sandy Maclver and 2016 NCAA champion University of Southern California’s Ashleigh Plumptre.

Allen played in 17 games this season, starting 14 for the Bucs. Allen registered seven points on the year with two goals and three assists. In the SoCon tournament semifinals, she recorded an assist in ETSU’s 3-1 victory over Mercer.

The England U19 squad will play Sweden on Thursday, Jan. 19, and Saturday, Jan. 21, at St. George’s Park.
