SPARTANBURG, S.C. – VMI’s QJ Peterson has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all games played Jan. 10-16. The senior averaged 25.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in a pair of games for the Keydets last week.
Peterson opened the week with 19 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in a 79-78 win over Western Carolina. It was his third double-double of the season and the 10th for his career. He followed that performance with a season-high 31 points in a loss to UNCG on Saturday. The senior added five rebounds, three assists and three steals against the Spartans. It was his fifth game of at least 20 points this season.
He leads the SoCon with 19.3 points per game and ranks seventh in the league in made 3-pointers per game (2.5) and eighth in steals (1.4 spg).
VMI (4-12, 1-4 SoCon) returns to action Thursday (Jan. 19) when the Keydets visit Wofford (7-11, 2-3 SoCon).
