ETSU?s Woodfin named SoCon Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU midfielder Cameron Woodfin has been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer player of the week for all competition from Aug. 29 to Sept. 4 after leading the Bucs to a pair of wins on the week. The selection is made by the league office.

Woodfin scored five points on two goals and an assist in two games, with both scores serving as game-winners.

In Wednesday’s 4-2 win over George Mason, the junior from Old Hickory, Tennessee, assisted on ETSU’s second goal, which made it a 2-1 affair in the 37th minute. After Mason tied it at 2 in the second half, Woodfin scored his first goal of the season in the 78th minute to put the Bucs ahead for good.

Woodfin notched his second goal of the season and third of his career Saturday against Appalachian State, scoring the only goal of the contest in the 51st minute to hand ETSU its second win of the young 2016 campaign.

ETSU (2-1-0) returns to action Friday at No. 24 West Virginia for a 7 p.m. contest in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Also nominated: Max Poore (Mercer) and Kyle Nelson (Wofford).
