Furman?s Hawke named SoCon Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman forward Lewis Hawke has been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer player of the week for all competition from Sept. 19-25 after scoring twice in the Paladins’ league opener. The selection is made by the league office.

After being held scoreless in Furman’s loss to South Carolina on Tuesday, Lewis notched his third and fourth goals of the season, all of which have come in the Paladins’ last four matches, in Saturday’s 6-0 win over VMI.

The senior from Howwood, Scotland, pushed his career totals to 21 goals and 49 points, good for second and third, respectively among active SoCon players.

The weekly award is the third of Hawke’s career. He also took the honor in consecutive weeks in 2014.
