ETSU Men Finish Fourth; Women Finish Fifth at Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Against national and regional ranked competition on Friday the men’s team had nine runners finish in the top 50 and the women’s team had three finish in the top 50.

On the men’s side, ETSU was led by freshman Adam Bradtmueller who recorded a top 25 finish with a time of 25:44.60 to finish 24th. The second and third runners for ETSU were separated by .30 seconds as senior Skyler Winchester finished 31st with a time of 25:58.00. Right behind Winchester in 32nd was senior Simeon Roberts with a time of 25:58.30.

Rounding out the top five for the Bucs was freshman Nathan Longfellow and sophomore Zackery Summerall. Overall, the blue and gold finished fourth with a total of 115 points. Virginia Tech won the men’s race with a total of 21 points.

In the women’s race, ETSU was led by senior Victoria Hutchens who finished 15th with a time of 22:22.60. It is the second straight week that Hutchens has led the Bucs. Close behind Hutchens in 17th was junior Macy Carrier with a time of 22:38.40. Rounding out the top five for the Bucs was freshman Kaitlyn Lay, freshman Adrienne Hutchens and junior Kylie Rutherford.

The ETSU women’s team finished fifth with a total of 127 points, right behind Akron in fourth place with 124 points. Virginia Tech also won the women’s race with a total of 20 points.  READ MORE


UNCG Competes at Adidas Cross Country Challenge

Cary, N.C. – After nearly two week’s rest the UNCG men’s and women’s cross country teams were back on the course Friday afternoon at the Adidas Cross Country Challenge in Cary. The collegiate races, which took place Friday at the WakeMed Soccer Park Cross Country Course, were hosted by North Carolina State.

On the men’s side Luke Sumerford was the top finisher for UNCG clocking an 18:42.1 on the 6,000-meter course. He helped the Spartans to a seventh place finish out of 12 teams. Rounding out the top-five finisher for UNCG were Patrick O'Grady, William Sandin, Dakarai Shipp and Brandon King .

Katherine Link was the first Spartan to cross the line on the women’s side. She ran a 17:59.7 on the 5,000-meter course and placed 21st overall.

Taylor Delaney  and Katlyn Adkins finished second and third for UNCG turning in times of 18:26.8 and 20:58.0, respectively. Sarah Desantis was the fourth to cross the line and Kelsey Barrett  rounded out UNCG’s top-five.

White Paces VMI Men at Virginia Tech Alumni Invite |

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Brandon White was VMI's top finishing runner for the first time in his four-year career, headlining the VMI cross country team's efforts at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invite, contested Friday in Blacksburg, Va.

White led the way for the Keydets with a 27th-place finish on the 8K course, as he crossed the line in 25:49.80. That was one spot, and one-tenth of a second, ahead of teammate Jay Broom, the current SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week. The rest of VMI's top five was Ryan Drew (45th/26:16.30), Avery Martin (55th/26:32.40) and Kyle Sabourin (64th/26:44.40), who made his first appearance of the year in VMI's top five.

As a team, the Keydets finished sixth in the nine-squad field (149 pts), two points behind fifth-place Akron. Virginia Tech won the meet with 21 markers, while Liberty was second (49), Ohio finished third (63) and ETSU (115) was fourth.  READ MORE


Catamount Men and Women Finish Second at Mountains to Sea Duals

BOONE, N.C. - The Western Carolina men's and women's cross country teams both finished second Friday evening at the Mountains to Sea Duals hosted by Appalachian State University. The Catamounts finished ahead of ACC member Miami as well as CAA member and sister institution UNC Wilmington. Sophomore Kaitlyn Lingard was WCU's top individual finisher as she placed fifth in the women's 5K race.

Lingard completed the course in 18:34.82 to secure her fifth place showing. Freshman Shawnda Martin was the next to cross for WCU as she came in 10th overall with a time of 18:54.21 which ties her for the 21st best time in program history at WCU.

Freshman Justin Tucker led the men in the 6,400m race as he finished eighth overall after crossing the finish line in 20:55.13. Sophomore Liam Brooks finished just two spots back in 10th as he turned in a time of 21:02.98.  READ MORE
