Western Carolina, Wofford at Asheville Cross Country Invitational (Asheville, N.C.) - Results

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - The Western Carolina men’s and women’s cross country teams gave head coach Cale McDaniel the first two victories of his young head coaching career Saturday morning as the Catamounts swept the titles at the UNC Asheville Cross Country Invitational. Sophomore Kaitlyn Lingard repeated as individual champion in the women’s race after taking the title last season during her freshman campaign.  READ MORE

 

Furman, The Citadel at Furman Invitational  (Greenville, S.C.) - Results

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Paladin men scored 16 points for the win, beating second-place Auburn by 30 points.  Seven of the Furman runners finished among the top nine, including junior Tanner Hinkle, who claimed first place in the 8K race for the second-consecutive year, turning in a time of 24:17.30.  Hinkle was followed by sophomore Frank Lara in second at 24:18.20, while juniors Josh Brickell and Lee Shearer finished third (24:30.31) and fourth (24:35.39), respectively. VMI at JMU Invite (New Market, Va.) - Men's Results | Women's Results

NEW MARKET, Va. - Jay Broom won the individual title and Brandon White finished second, as the VMI men's cross country team went 1-2 at the JMU Open, contested Saturday morning in New Market, Va. Broom crossed the line in 26:18.30 to win the first individual cross country title of his collegiate career, and in the process, become the first Keydet to win a men's race longer than 5K since Noah Hagos won the 8K Furman Invite in 2011. White was one spot behind Broom in 26:26.60 over the 7,900-meter course, and true freshman Ryan Drew was seventh in 26:57.20. READ MORE

 

On the women's side, true freshman Logan Luckett finished 11th overall to lead the VMI at the JMU Open. Luckett crossed the line in 20:32.10 to earn her result, and become only the third freshman woman to serve as VMI's top finisher in back to back races in the past 10 years. VMI's top three was the same as the previous week's season opener, as Bethany King finished 25th in 21:33.30 and Sadie Sandifer was 32nd in 22:24.40 on the 5,200-meter course.  READ MORE
