GREENVILLE, S.C. –  Furman’s Kyle Jamieson has been asked by head coach Ken Eriksen to join the support staff for the United States National Team during the World Cup of Softball and WBSC Softball World Championship this summer, it was announced on Tuesday.

Jamieson, who is entering his fifth season at the helm of the Furman softball program, will travel to Oklahoma City, Okla., next week to work with Coach Eriksen’s staff at the World Cup of Softball, which is set for July 5-10, at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex.  Following the tournament, he will travel with USA Softball to Surrey, British Columbia for the 2016 WBSC Softball World Championship, set for July 15-24.

“I am honored to have the chance to work with Coach Eriksen and USA Softball,” said Jamieson, who sports previous national team experience as a player having helped Team Canada to a gold medal at the 1993 world championship. “It will be an outstanding opportunity for me to work with and learn from some of the best in the game and bring some new ideas and concepts back to Furman softball.”

The United States National Team is slated to face Australia, China, Netherlands, Philippines, Puerto Rico and Venezuela during the group stage of the World Cup of Softball. The winners of Group A and Group B will meet for the championship on July 10.

Jamieson, who has compiled a 120-106 record in four years at Furman, led the Paladins to a 33-28 overall record, second place finish in the Southern Conference regular season standings and a runner-up finish at the SoCon Softball Championship this past season. Under Jamieson’s leadership, Furman recorded back-to-back 30-win campaigns for the first time since 1994-95.
