SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG senior Lindsay Thomas has been named General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held April 27-May 3, the league office announced Wednesday.

Thomas, a catcher for the Spartans, hit .600 (9-for-15) and blasted three home runs as UNCG claimed a series sweep of Chattanooga over the weekend. The Irvine, Calif., product began the UTC series Saturday by going 3-for-4 with a walk-off homer in game one. She added a 2-for-4 performance in game two and then was 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs and two RBIs in the finale on Sunday.

Thomas leads the SoCon in batting average (.438), slugging percentage (.843), on-base percentage (.511), runs scored (50) and total bases (129). She was named the league’s softball player of the week on Monday for the sixth time in her career.

In the classroom, Thomas boasts a 3.63 grade point average as a psychology major and Spanish minor.
