TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Texas State Bobcats beat the Samford Bulldogs, 2-0 in the first elimination game at the 2016 NCAA Softball Tuscaloosa Regional being played in Rhoads Stadium this weekend.

Texas State returns to action immediately, facing the Cal Golden Bears for the right to advance to Sunday’s championship game against Alabama.

All the scoring came in the second inning when the Bobcats’ Taylor Webb and Kendall Wiley crossed home plate. Both Samford and Texas State stranded five runners in the game, with TSU managing seven hits while the Bulldogs tallied five.

Randi Rupp picked up the win for Texas State, pushing her record to 30-13 on the season, while Mollie Hanson took the loss for the Bulldogs, finishing her season at 23-10.
