SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s David Biosca has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played March 28 through April 3. Biosca finished the week 4-0 in all competition as the Buccaneers topped Furman (6-1) and defeated No. 63 UNCW (4-1).

Biosca ran his winning streak to six matches and is now 9-1 in his last ten outings at the top position, as he defeated Furman’s Adam Steryous (6-7, 6-3, 1-0) and UNCW’s Santtu Leskinen (6-4, 6-1).

The Sant Fruotos Del Bage, Spain, native was paired with Rogerio Ribeiro at No. 1 doubles, and ETSU’s top pair picked up a pair of wins.  Biosca and Ribeiro held off Furman’s Matt Browne and Ben Horst, 6-1, before defeating UNCW’s Aviv Ben Shabbit and C. Van der Burgh, 6-1.

ETSU (11-5, 4-0 SoCon) returns to action Wednesday afternoon when the Bucs host Middle Tennessee. 

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Furman’s Cameron Green, Mercer’s Arnav Mohanty, UNCG’s Connor Thompson, Samford’s Trey Carter, Chattanooga’s Luke Saunders and Wofford’s Parks Schoen.
