Furman's Green Named Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Cameron Green has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played March 21-27. Green was 4-0 in all competition last week as the Paladins claimed victories over The Citadel (6-1) and UCF (4-2).

Green ran his winning streak to three matches at No. 3 singles and has now won five of his last six outings after topping The Citadel’s Matthew Henson (6-2, 6-2) and UCF’s Jose Sangroniz (6-3, 6-2).  The Sydney, Australia, native is now 8-7 in singles play this spring, but four of his losses have come to ranked opponents.

Paired with Alex Steryous at No. 2 doubles, Green ran his doubles winning streak to six matches with a pair of wins last week.  Green and Steryous topped The Citadel’s Nicholas Bradley and Michael Anzalone, 6-4, before topping UCF’s Reece Acree and Tyler Pate, 6-3.
