SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Allie Buchalski has been named General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Feb. 24-March 1, the league office announced Wednesday.
The junior from John’s Creek, Ga., earned three titles at the 2016 Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, taking first in the mile, 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs. She contributed 30 points to Paladins' effort en route to claiming women’s most outstanding athlete accolades at the championship. On Wednesday, she nabbed most outstanding women's track athlete honors for her performance this past weekend, as voted on by the league's coaches.
Buchalski boasts a 3.53 grade point average as a business administration major.
