Wofford finishes third at Bulldog Invitational
MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The Wofford women’s golf team wrapped up the Bulldog Invitational with a third-place finish on Tuesday at Patriots Point Links. The Terriers were led by senior Maegan Higgins, who tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard with a two-round total of 5-over-par 149.
Higgins coupled her opening-round even-par 72 with a final-round 5-over 77. Her fourth-place finish was a collegiate best, as well as her eighth career top-10. Higgins also came one shot shy of her collegiate 36-hole low of 4-over 148 from the 2013 Terrier Intercollegiate.
Wofford completed the tournament with a team score of 44-over-par 620. It marked the third time in six outings on the 2015-16 academic year that the Terriers finished in the top three, as they did so twice in the fall.
All five Terriers competing in Monday and Tuesday’s tournament placed in the top 25 of the 57-man field. Freshman Page Morehead matched Higgins’ final-round 77 to finish tied for 14th at 12-over-par. Sophomore Lela Oakley was a shot behind in 16th, followed by senior Emiley Pagrabs and sophomore Nicole Chin in a tie for 22nd (+15).
Lamar swept the team and individual awards. The Cardinals won the team competition at 18-over 594, while Wenny Chang (-1) and Taylor Stockton (+1) finished first and second, individually.
The Terriers are back in action in just four days, hosting the Low Country Intercollegiate this Saturday and Sunday at Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head, S.C. Eighteen teams are slated to compete.
