DELAND Fla. – The Samford women’s tennis team earned an impressive road win, defeating Stetson, 5-2, Friday afternoon.

With the win, Samford improves to 5-7 on the season. Stetson falls to 3-7 with the loss.

Samford started the match off strong, earning the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. At No. 1 doubles, Jessica Northcutt and Carita Moolman defeated Isabella Fernandez and Arijana Korac, 6-3. Iva Parapunova and Savannah Wood earned a 6-2 win over Alexe Viaud and Alexandra Lyubimova at No. 3. The No. 2 doubles match was unfinished.

In singles, Samford earned wins at No. 2, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6. At No. 2, Moolman defeated Fernandez, 6-2, 6-2. Ellie Gerlach defeated Maja Salibasic, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4.

At No. 5, Wood defeated Carolina Meregalli, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9). At the No. 6 position, Georgina Jupp earned a 7-5, 6-3 win over Ashley Dean.

Samford will return to action on March 19, when the Bulldogs play at South Alabama. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m. in Mobile, Ala.
