SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Western Carolina’s Stacia Kissell has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played Feb. 22-28. Kissell went 4-0 last week in all action as she was 2-0 at No. 1 singles and went 2-0 with Shannon Bettiol at No. 1 doubles.

Kissell posted a pair of straight-sets wins last week as she topped USC Upstate’s Anna Zoske (6-0, 6-3) before cruising past Appalachian State’s Clare Cox (6-2, 6-2).

The team of Kissell and Bettiol improved to 6-1 at No. 1 doubles with the two victories last week.  After defeating USC Upstate’s Filippa Ericson and Zoske, 6-0, WCU’s top pair held off Appalachian State’s Heidi Swope and Cox, 7-5.

Western Carolina (6-2) returns to the courts Friday when the Catamounts travel to face UNCG (4-4).

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included ETSU’s Lyn Yee Choo, Furman’s Gabby Rodriguez, UNCG’s Masey DeMoss, Samford’s Iva Parapunova, Chattanooga’s Kelsey Coots and Wofford’s Taylor Carlson.
