SPARTANBURG, S.C. – VMI’s Dalton Henderson has been named the Arby’s Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for all competition from Jan. 27 to Feb. 2. The selection is made by the league office.

Henderson went 3-0 on the week to take first place at 125 pounds at the All-Academy Championships, hosted by the Keydets in Lexington, Va.

The junior from Virginia Beach, Va., opened his tournament with a 15-0 technical fall over Earl Roberts of Coast Guard. Henderson followed that shutout with another dominant effort, pinning The Citadel’s Charles Kearney in just 31 seconds. He capped his title run with a 12-6 decision over Air Force’s Drew Romero, running his winning streak to nine matches.

Henderson improved to 14-4 overall on the season and helped the Keydets to a fifth-place finish at the tournament.

The weekly honor is the first of Henderson’s career.

VMI (2-7, 0-4 SoCon) hosts Davidson (4-10, 0-2) on Wednesday in a league dual that will air live on the SoCon Digital Network at 7:30 p.m.

Also nominated: Nathan Kraisser (Campbell), Matt Frisch (The Citadel), Dustin Runzo (Davidson), Hunter Gamble (Gardner-Webb) and Michael Pongracz (Chattanooga).
