SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Hannah Trombley and UNCG’s Alicia Bazonski have been named Southern Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for games held Feb. 22-28. Selections are made by the league office.

Trombley, a freshman catcher, has provided an immediate impact on offense for the Bulldogs. The Dallas, Ga., native hit .545 and posted nine RBIs over the weekend at the Samford Scramble in Birmingham, Ala., going 6-for-11 at the plate. Five of her hits went for extra bases, as she blasted two home runs and three doubles. Trombley’s biggest game came on Friday in a 10-2 win over Tennessee Tech. She went 3-for-4 in the contest with two doubles and a home run and drove in five RBIs.

Bazonski claimed pitcher of the week honors by allowing only four hits and registering a 1.31 ERA across 10 2/3 innings at the UNCG Invitational. On Saturday, she pitched a two-hitter and allowed one earned run in six innings in a 10-1 rout of Iona. The Sheffield, Mass., product struck out two batters and walked only one in the victory. Bazonski ended the week by striking out four batters and surrendering one earned run in 4 2/3 innings of relief work on Sunday.

SoCon softball will resume on Tuesday with Furman and Western Carolina in action.
