SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A pair of Air Force players – attacker Chris Walsch and goalkeeper Doug Gouchoe – have been named Southern Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for men’s lacrosse, respectively, for all games played Feb. 16-22, the league office announced Tuesday. Selections are made by the conference office.

Walsch tallied a season-high four goals and added two assists in the Falcons’ 7-6 win in four overtimes at Marist on Saturday. The sophomore from Hampstead, Md., totaled six points on the day and had a hand in six of his team’s seven goals.

On the other side, senior goalkeeper Doug Gouchoe allowed only six goals in more than 77 minutes of action. The Concord, Mass., native made a career-high 19 saves, including four in overtime. He had a .760 save percentage and collected three ground balls in the contest.

The SoCon lacrosse slate will continue on Tuesday with High Point, Mercer and Richmond in action.

Also nominated for offense: Tucker Ciessau (Bellarmine), Matthew VanGalen (Furman), Dan Lomas (High Point), Dakota Rohlin (Jacksonville) and Shawn Carter (Mercer).

Also nominated for defense: Taylor Stuart (Bellarmine), Ben Gleichenhaus (Jacksonville) and Mike Nugent (Mercer).
