SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Ashley Kessler has been named General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Feb. 3-9, the league office announced Wednesday.

Kessler, who competes on the Bucs’ track and field team, won the pole vault at this past weekend’s Buccaneer Invitational. The senior from Knoxville, Tenn., recorded a league-best mark of 3.60 meters en route to her sixth career pole-vault victory.

In the classroom, Kessler holds a 3.72 grade point average as an elementary education major. She was a member of the SoCon Honor Roll and earned Academic All-SoCon honors as a junior.

Other nominees: Brittany Stevens (Samford, women’s basketball) and Eric Robertson (Chattanooga, men’s basketball).
