Campbell?s Kraisser named Wrestler of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Campbell 125-pounder Nathan Kraisser has been named the Southern Conference wrestler of the week for all competition from Nov. 23 to Dec. 6. The selection is made by the league office.

Kraisser went 4-0 to win the 125-pound class at the Journeymen Tussle in Hempstead, New York, on Sunday, not allowing a single offensive point on the day.

The redshirt senior from Ellicott, Maryland, opened with a 16-1 technical fall over Hofstra’s Jacob Martin before picking up a 7-1 win over Rutgers’ Brandon Paetzell. Kraisser added a 10-3 win over Brown’s Michael Russo before closing out his day with a 4-0 shutout over Rutgers’ Sean McCabe.

Ranked No. 13 nationally, Kraisser improved to 13-1 on the season in picking up his second weekly award of the season (Nov. 9) and third of his career.

Campbell (3-2, 0-0 SoCon) returns to action Wednesday, Dec. 14, when it opens its league schedule at No. 22 Appalachian State (5-1, 1-0).

Also nominated: Vito Pasone (Appalachian State), Aaron Walker (The Citadel), Will Cooley (Davidson), Austin Trott (Gardner-Webb) and John Muldoon (SIUE).
