SPARTANBURG, S.C. – VMI’s Julian Eleby has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all games played Dec. 13-19. The senior scored a game-high 31 points as VMI topped Charleston Southern (88-83) last week.
The Fayetteville, N.C., native connected on 9-of-13 field goal attempts and was 5-of-9 from 3-point range in the win. He added five rebounds, three assists and a steal for the Keydets. Eleby scored 27 of his 31 points in the second half, which tied for the third-highest scoring output in a half in school history.
Eleby ranks seventh in the league in scoring (14.6 ppg) and ranks fourth in the SoCon in made 3-pointers per contest (3.0 3fg).
VMI (2-7) returns to action tonight (Dec. 20) when it hosts Frostburg State. The Keydets will then travel to Dayton on Friday before opening conference play at ETSU on Dec. 31.
