SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Campbell 125-pounder Nathan Kraisser has been named the Southern Conference wrestler of the week for all competition from Nov. 5-8. The selection is made by the league office.

Kraisser, a redshirt senior from Ellicott City, Maryland, opened his season with a 4-0 mark, notching two decisions, a pin and a technical fall.

The three-time NCAA qualifier opened his season with a 3-2 win over No. 6 Barlow McGhee of Missouri at the NWCA All-Star Classic on Saturday. Kraisser followed that up with a 3-0 effort Sunday, pinning West Virginia’s Devin Brown and picking up a 22-5 tech fall over Ohio’s Hayden Lee to lead the Camels to a pair of team wins at the Mountaineer Quad. Kraisser capped his opening weekend of action with a 5-4 win over Pittsburgh’s Lorenzo Bentley.

The 2016 SoCon champion at 133 pounds, Kraisser has dropped down to 125 this season and opened the year ranked No. 14 at that weight. He moved up to No. 8 in this week’s Intermat rankings after his impressive start to the 2016-17 campaign.

The SoCon weekly award is the second of his career.

Campbell (2-1), which is receiving votes in the USA Today/NWCA national rankings for the first time in program history, resumes action Sunday in Washington, D.C., when it will take on Clarion and American.

Also nominated: Colby Smith (Appalachian State), Ryan Hull (Gardner-Webb), Freddie Rodriguez (SIUE) and Sean Mappes (Chattanooga).
