SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Wyatt Walker has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all games played Nov. 15-21. Walker posted back-to-back double-doubles last week as the Bulldogs dropped a 58-48 decision at New Mexico State before claiming a 66-53 win at Campbell.
Walker tallied 11 points and 14 rebounds in the loss at New Mexico State. He followed that performance with a team-high 16 points and a game-high 16 rebounds against the Camels. The sophomore shot 56 percent from the field last week and added four steals in the two games.
He currently leads the SoCon with 15.0 rebounds per game and ranks 11th in scoring with 14.3 points per contest.
The Bulldogs (2-1) return to action Wednesday evening when they visit Cincinnati.
Other top performers in the Southern Conference included The Citadel’s Kaelon Harris, ETSU’s T.J. Cromer, UNCG’s Diante Baldwin, Chattanooga’s Justin Tuoyo and Western Carolina’s Haboubacar Mutombo.
