- The Citadel Bulldogs, Chattanooga Mocs, Samford Bulldogs and Wofford Terriers are ranked in both weekly FCS polls. The Citadel is ranked fifth in the STATS poll and sixth by the coaches. UTC is 11th according to the coaches and 12th in the STATS poll. Samford is slotted 18th in both polls while Wofford is ranked 19th by the coaches and 20th in the STATS poll.
• The Southern Conference is the only FCS league to have four teams ranked in the top 20.

- With Saturday’s win over VMI, The Citadel finished the confernce season with a perfect 8-0 record. It is the second year in a row the Bulldogs have earned a conference championship as The Citadel also won a share of the league title in 2015.

- Fourteen of the league’s 33 conference games this season have been decided by one possession. Since the start of the 2013 season, 52 of 121 (.430) league games have been decided by one possession.

- Southern Conference teams are 10-1 against FCS nonconference opponents in 2016.

- Southern Conference teams are 6-1 at home in nonconference games this season. 
• SoCon teams are 82-22 (.789) at home in nonconference games since the start of the 2010 season. 
• Home teams are 19-14 in conference play this year and are 68-54 since the start of 2013.

- A Southern Conference team has ranked either first or second nationally in rushing in 13 of the last 14 seasons. 
• The Citadel leads the FCS in rushing this season with 359.9 yards per game.
