- The Citadel has clinched a share of the conference title and has earned the league's automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs. The Bulldogs can win the league championship outright with a win over VMI Saturday.
- The Citadel Bulldogs, Chattanooga Mocs and Samford Bulldogs are ranked in both weekly FCS polls. The Citadel is ranked fifth in the STATS poll and sixth by the coaches. UTC is seventh in both polls. Samford is ranked 20th in the STATS poll and 21st by the coaches.
• Wofford is among the teams receiving votes in both polls.
- Twelve of the league’s 29 conference games this season have been decided by one possession. Since the start of the 2013 season, 50 of 117 (.427) league games have been decided by one possession.
- Southern Conference teams are 10-1 against FCS nonconference opponents in 2016.
- Southern Conference teams are 6-1 at home in nonconference games this season.
