SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Arsène Guillorel and Karisa Nelson have been named Southern Conference men’s and women’s runners of the week, respectively, for competition held Sept. 30-Oct. 1, the league office announced Wednesday.
Guillorel led the way for the Bulldogs on the men's 8K course in Fayetteville, Ark., on Saturday. The junior from Pontchateau, France, posted an 11th-place finish with a time of 24:02.67 to lead Samford to a sixth-place team finish. His time of 24:02.67 bested his previous personal record by eight seconds and is the top time among all SoCon runners on an 8K course this season.
Nelson placed sixth among 124 finishers with a personal-best 16:38.99 on the 5K course. Nelson paced the Samford women’s squad to a fifth-place team finish out of 18 squads. Nelson’s time of 16:38.99 leads all SoCon runners this season on a 5K course.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Friday, Oct. 14, at the University of Alabama Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
