SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford women’s soccer goalkeeper Anna Maddox has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Sept. 28-Oct. 4, the league office announced Wednesday.

Maddox played a key role in the Bulldogs’ 2-0 record last week with wins against Mercer and The Citadel. The Warner Robins, Ga., native did not allow a single goal on the week after facing six shot attempts. Her three saves allowed the Bulldogs to pick up a pair of victories and increase their home winning streak to five straight matches. Maddox owns a perfect 6-0 record in goal this season and her shutout victory against Mercer on Friday proved to be her third of the season.

In the classroom, Maddox boasts a 3.8 grade point average as a nursing major.
