SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford forward Jermaine Seoposenwe has been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer player of the week for all competition from Oct. 10-16 after scoring a pair of goals on the week. The selection is made by the league office.

Seoposenwe scored both goals for the Bulldogs in their 2-1 win over Western Carolina on Friday, converting a pair of penalty kicks. Her second was her league-best sixth game-winner of the season and moved her into a tie for the SoCon lead in goals on the season with 12.

The Cape Town, South Africa, native, who played for her home country in the Rio Olympics over the summer, also padded her league scoring lead. The senior has 30 points on the year and is vying to become the first Samford player to lead the league since the Bulldogs joined the SoCon in 2008.

The weekly award is Seoposenwe’s second this season and of her career.

League-leading Samford (10-3-2, 6-1-0 SoCon), which could lock up its third straight regular-season SoCon title this weekend, visits UNCG (6-9-2, 3-3-1) on Friday and VMI (6-10-0, 3-4-0) on Sunday.
