-Eight Southern Conference teams take the field Saturday, Oct. 15.  Wofford is idle.

-Saturday's game between Chattanooga and The Citadel marks the first time two Southern Conference teams ranked in the top ten square off since No. 7 Georgia Southerh held off No. 4 Wofford (17-9) in 2012.

-At 3-2 this season, VMI has already tallied more wins than at any point over the last five seasons.  The Keydets recorded three wins in 2010 and posted four victories in 2008.

-The Southern Conference boasts three of the top defenses in the FCS.  Chattanooga leads the nation in points allowed (12.2), while Wofford ranks fourth (15.3) and The Citadel sixth (17.8).  Chattanooga also leads the nation in total defense (225.7 ypg), while Wofford ranks second nationally (254.5).

-Six of the league’s 14 conference games this season have been decided by one possession. Since the start of the 2013 season, 44 of 104 (.438) league games have been decided by one possession.

-Southern Conference teams are 9-1 against FCS nonconference opponents in 2016. League teams have one more nonconference games against FCS opponents (Mercer at Austin Peay, Oct. 22).

-Southern Conference teams are 6-1 at home in nonconference games this season.
• SoCon teams are 82-22 (.789) at home in nonconference games since the start of the 2010 season.
• Home teams are 7-7 in conference play this year and are 56-47 since the start of 2013.

-A Southern Conference team has ranked either first or second nationally in rushing in 13 of the last 14 seasons.
• The Citadel leads the nation in rushing this season with 388.8 yards per game.
