Mercer?s Clark Named Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer women’s soccer midfielder Maddie Clark has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Oct. 5-11, the league office announced Wednesday.

Clark, the reigning SoCon women’s soccer player of the week, led the Bears to a pair of 1-0 road victories last week, scoring both goals in wins at Furman and Wofford. The Peachtree Corners, Ga., native has now tallied nine goals, including four game-winners, this season. Clark scored on a header in the 76th minute at Furman and on a breakaway in the 91st minute at Wofford. She currently ranks third in the league and 27th nationally in total goals while sitting at second in the conference and 16th nationally in game-winning goals. Clark is third in the SoCon in total points (19), goals per game (0.63) and points per game (1.36).

In the classroom, Clark boasts a 3.495 grade point average as a biology major.
