SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Quintin McKinnish and Julia Rodriguez have been named Southern Conference men’s and women’s runners of the week, respectively, for competition held Oct. 7-8, the league office announced Wednesday.
McKinnish was the first Paladin to cross the finish line on the men’s side at the Gene Mullin Invitational in Greenville, S.C., on Saturday. The junior completed the 5K course in 15:49.99 to place third overall and was the top Division I runner to compete.
Rodriguez led the Paladin women to a first-place team finish as she placed second overall on the 5K course. The Tampa, Fla., native crossed the finish line in 18:55.67 and was the top Division I runner on the women’s side.
Furman will compete at the Pre-NCAA Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., on Oct. 15.
