South Bend, Ind. – Katherine Link placed 21st overall in the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational to lead the UNCG women’s cross country team to a 22nd place finish overall in the Women’ Gold race. Link clocked a 17:43.4 on the 5,000-meter course at Burke Golf Course. Luke Sumerford was the top finisher for the Spartans in the Men’s Gold race clocking a 25:43.9 in the five-mile competition.

Freshman Taylor Delaney also ran a personal best and was the second Spartan to finish earning a top-50 finish while Kaitlyn Stone, Sarah DeSantis and Kelsey Barrett rounded out the top-five for UNCG.

On the men’s side, Sumerford placed 55th overall while Patrick OGrady clocked a 26:13.5 to be the second Spartan finisher. Bryan Whyms, Dakarai Shipp and Brandon King rounded out the top-five for UNCG. William Sandin wasn’t far off King’s trail, crossing the finish line sixth for the Spartans and just seven seconds behind his teammate.
