SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Taylor Reece has been named General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Jan. 20-26, the league office announced Wednesday.
Reece, a center on the Bulldogs’ women’s basketball team, helped lead her squad to two important SoCon wins last week over ETSU and Chattanooga. The Hendersonville, Tenn., product tallied 17 points, four rebounds and four assists as Samford topped ETSU 55-47 last Thursday. Two days later, she scored 14 points and tacked on two rebounds and two assists as the Bulldogs edged UTC, 48-43. The redshirt senior was 12-of-22 from the floor, 3-of-8 from 3-point land and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line during the two-game stretch.
Reece possesses a 3.76 grade point average and is currently in nurse practitioner school at Samford.
