SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Ge’Lawn Guyn has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all games played Jan. 19-25. Guyn averaged 19.0 points and 3.5 rebounds and came up big for the Buccaneers as ETSU earned a pair of overtime wins over Mercer (65-63) and The Citadel (101-92).
Guyn tallied 18 points, three rebounds and two steals against the Bears. The senior hit a shot with 28 seconds left to force overtime and then scored with 2.6 seconds left in the extra period to lift the Bucs to the win.
The Lexington, Ky., native followed that performance with 20 points, four rebounds, an assist, a steal and a blocked shot in 30 minutes against The Citadel on Saturday afternoon. Guyn scored to tie the game with 14 seconds in regulation and the Bucs were able to outscore the Bulldogs 15-6 in the overtime session.
Guyn ranks second in the Southern Conference in scoring with 17.4 points per game and is fifth in the league with 2.5 made 3-pointers per contest.
ETSU (13-7, 6-1 SoCon) returns to action Thursday when the Bucs visit Wofford (8-12, 4-3 SoCon).
