SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU sophomore Haydn Borghetti-Metz has been named General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Jan. 6-12, the league office announced Wednesday.

Borghetti-Metz, a member of the Bucs’ track and field team, finished first in the mile at the David E. Walker Kickoff Classic in Johnson City, Tenn., on Saturday. His time of 4:31.51 marked the fastest mile time in the SoCon this season.

The Rogersville, Tenn., native boasts a 3.54 grade point average as a biology major. He is a two-time Dean’s List member and was named Tennessee Lottery HOPE Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Monday.
