SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Allie Buchalski and Aaron Templeton have been named Southern Conference women’s and men’s Runner of the Week, respectively, for competition from Sept. 1-5, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Buchalski paced the Paladin women to a first-place finish at the Queens Twilight meet in Charlotte, N.C., winning the individual title with a time of 17:12.7 on the 5K course. This is the second time the junior from Johns Creek, Ga., has earned Runner of the Week honors. She adds the award to a resume that already includes SoCon Freshman of the Year (2013) and SoCon Runner of the Year (2014).

Templeton, a sophomore, won the men’s 5K race with a time of 14:56.3, leading the men’s squad to a first-place finish. Hailing from Knoxville, Tenn., Templeton is the reigning SoCon Freshman of the Year on the men’s side. This is his first career Runner of the Week recognition.

SoCon cross country resumes Friday with The Citadel and Chattanooga in action at the Coastal Carolina Invitational and Powerade Invitational, respectively.
