SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman senior Jo Wilks earned Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors and Western Carolina senior Elyssa Mulheron garnered Defensive Player of the Week for competition that took place Aug. 31 to Sept. 6. Selections were made by the conference office.
Offensive Player of the Week: Jo Wilks ▪ Furman ▪ Senior ▪ Setter ▪ Union Grove, Wis.
Wilks, a senior setter, was instrumental in Furman’s 3-0 weekend that included wins over Clemson and South Carolina. A native of Union Grove, Wis., Wilks averaged 12.54 assists per set during the Carolina Classic, notching 49 assists against Winthrop, 59 versus Clemson and 55 against South Carolina. The senior also posted 33 digs across the three matches and added three aces against the Gamecocks in the final match of the tournament. Wilks, who leads the SoCon with 11.76 assist per set, was named Carolina Classic MVP for her efforts.

Mulheron, a senior libero, had an impressive week for the Catamounts, totaling 98 digs across five matches for a per-set average of 5.16. Mulheron racked up 25 digs in a 3-0 sweep of UNC Asheville before registering 26 digs against George Mason on Saturday. She added 15 digs in three sets against Big Ten foe Maryland on Sunday. The Winston-Salem, N.C., product ranks third in the SoCon in digs per set at 4.53.
