Chattanooga?s Hogan named SoCon Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga forward Samantha Hogan has been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer player of the week for all competition Sept. 14-20. The selection is made by the league office.

Hogan had a flair for the dramatic in a week in which the Mocs went 1-0-1. The junior from Gallati, Tenn., had a hand in both goals in Chattanooga’s 2-1, double-overtime win over UAB on Friday, scoring the tying goal in the 83rd minute to force overtime before assisting on Emily Moseley’s game-winner with just one second left on the clock in the second extra frame.

On Sunday, Hogan helped Chattanooga to a 1-1 draw with Tennessee Tech as the Mocs went to overtime for the third straight game.

The award is the first of Hogan’s career and the first for a Chattanooga player since 2011.

Chattanooga (2-6-1) hosts Wofford and Furman as it opens Southern Conference play this weekend. The Mocs will take on the Terriers on Friday at 7 p.m. before battling the Paladins on Sunday at 2 p.m. Both matches will be streamed live and free on the SoCon Digital Network.
