SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference named its football players of the week today for all games played
Sept. 19. Chattanooga’s Jacob Huesman was named the Offensive Player of the Week. Furman’s Trey Robinson earned the Defensive Player of the Week award, while his teammate Jon Croft Hollingsworth was tabbed as the Special Teams Player of the Week. The players of the week are selected by the league office.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jacob Huesman, Chattanooga, Sr., QB, Chattanooga, Tenn.
Chattanooga quarterback rushed for 150 yards, passed for 181 and accounted for three touchdowns as the Mocs earned a 31-21 win at Samford on Saturday. Huesman carried 23 times for 150 yards and a touchdown in the win and completed 14-of-23 pass with two touchdowns. He became just the third player in league history to record 4,000 passing yards and 3,000 rushing yard in his career, joining Armanti Edwards (Appalachian State, 2006-09) and Greg Hill (Georgia Southern, 1996-99). Huesman now has 57 career touchdown passes, which is tied for fourth place all-time in the SoCon.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Trey Robinson, Furman, Sr., S, Spartanburg, S.C.
Trey Robinson keyed a strong defensive effort for the Paladins as Furman recorded a 16-15 win at FBS UCF on Saturday night. Robinson recorded 10 tackles and two interceptions in the win. His second pick of the night came with 49 seconds left to salt away the win. The Paladins limited UCF to 269 yard of total offense, including just 112 yards in the second half.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jon Croft Hollingsworth, Furman, So., P/PK, Greenwood, S.C.
Jon Croft Hollingsworth kicked a school-record 55-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to give the Paladins the lead in their win over the Golden Knights. It was Furman’s first win over an FBS opponent since a 28-3 victory over North Carolina in 1999. Hollingsworth also punted nine times and placed three inside the UCF 20-yard line. His final punt of the game was downed at the UCF 10-yard line and set up Robinson’s final interception. Hollingsworth also kicked off five times and averaged 65.0 yards per kick with two touchbacks.
