Western Carolina 1, Lipscomb 1 (2OT)

NASHVILLE – Senior forward Markie-Lynn Studnicky scored the game-tying goal in Western Carolina women's soccer's 1-1, double-overtime tie with Lipscomb on Saturday at the Nike Invitational.

Western Carolina found itself down early when the Bison scored at the 31st minute of the game for a 1-0 lead. Lipscomb’s Maycie McKay took a pass from Paige Miller and scored at 30:33.

Studnicky scored her first goal of the season off an assist by fellow senior Kelly Pannell to tie the game, 1-1, at the 52nd minute.

The Catamounts had solid looks at the goal throughout the game, including a quality shot by Pannell that was wide in the first overtime and a shot that was blocked by freshman Sayres McKenna.

Studnicky's goal was the 20th in her career, moving her to sole possession of third place in the Catamount record books.

Western Carolina begins Southern Conference play Sept. 25, traveling to UNCG for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
