BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University men's and women's cross country programs took to the course for the first time of the 2015 season at Veterans Park on Tuesday against SEC opponents Auburn University and the University of Alabama.
The men totaled 59 points which was just six points behind Alabama's 53. Auburn finished first on the men's side with a total of 20 points.
Sophomore Arsène Guillorel paced the Bulldogs with a fourth place finish and a time of 15:42.20, while senior Adam Jones followed up with a seventh place time of 15:58.78.
The Samford women competed in a two-mile event and scored a total of 67 points to close out the meet. Sophomore Emma Garner led the charge with a time of 11:24.43 and a sixth place overall finish, while fellow sophomore Karisa Nelson crossed the line with a 10th place finish in the event with a time of 11:33.78.
Auburn placed first on the women's side with a total of 15 points. Alabama finished second with 59 points.
The Bulldogs return to action at the Commodore Classic hosted by Vanderbilt University on Sept. 19, in Nashville, Tenn.
